You too eh? He was one of those artists whose style was never fixed, but was always instantly recognisable. He was an utter master of creating a visual narrative on every scale too. There's several pieces of his that I've spent way too much time absorbed in, particularly the Eldar stuff he produced in the 90s which sat as incredible, energetic foils to Jes Goodwin's and Mark Gibbons's more controlled pieces. What a legacy, looking forwards to painting up some of the En Garde miniatures when they're available.
I imagine so, but what's not to love about 17th/18th century Venetian inspired pirate / vampire / demi-monde dueling?
Yeah, the Voodoo Forest stuff is incredible. I really liked the Femme Militant projec t he did too, but the miniatures were all too expensive to come by by the time I discovered them.
I loved listening to some Bolt Thrower now and again in the 90s... a bit earlier I was devouring the Lone Wolf series of RPG fantasy novels... I didn't know Blanche's work as such, but definitely through the Warhammer imagery which I did see much of in the comic shops and on those Bolt Thrower albums, even if I didn't play the game. Thanks for sharing this tribute. His work is definitely riveting stuff.

Given his pirate fetish, Gordon would probably have loved En Garde!
I think Blanche's best work might be his late-era stuff. Voodoo Forest (https://hollow-press.net/products/voodoo-forest) is really amazing - well worth a look if you haven't seen it.
